Location

In the first chapter you will know the exact geographical location of Tijuana, as well as other cities that are in the same latitude. You will also learn that is one of the few Mexican cities that has islands in his jurisdiction, the flora and fauna of the city, as well as his great weather.

Also, that the name of Tijuana is in stores, boats, and streets in Mexico, but in rock bands, restaurants, bars, discos and cafes in different cities in the world such as: Barcelona and Madrid in Spain; Milano, Italy; Winnipeg, Canada; Belgrade, capital of Serbia; Aachen, Munich and Oberhausen in Germany; among others.

You will get to know that Tijuana and San Diego are linked by a valley and a river, and both cities make up a single metropolitan region.

History

Reading this chapter, you will find out when, how and why the city was born. In addition, who were the first settlers and Europeans in the area. You will know that Tijuana was part of San Diego and San Diego part of México. You will gain knowledge of who were the first Ranches and the name of the families that owned them, also that Tijuana was like a small town of the wild west, the battles in Tijuana in 1911 against an invasion that came from the north, and that Tijuana is considered “ciudad heroica”.

Information about the Prohibition period in the US, the first racetrack in 1916, the famous Agua Caliente Casino opened in 1928, the Casino in the Islands, and its distinguished visitors, movie stars, the legends of Tía Juana and Juan Soldado, among other historical data of our city.

We cannot forget that Tijuana is a young city but with a lot of history.

Hall of Fame

The name of the third chapter reveals the outstanding men and women, natives and others that have adopted Tijuana as their home. Their actions and activities have been acknowledged from a national and international perspective, and by doing so, they have taken the name of our city around the world.

The Tijuana natives that have represented Mexico are important actresses like María Rubio and Elsa Cárdenas; or popular “lucha libre” and WWE wrestlers like Rey Mysterio; and international singers and musicians such as Carlos Santana, Javier Batiz, Julieta Venegas, Nortec.

There are major league baseball players like Adrián González and Esteban Loaiza and famous world boxing champions such as Erik "Terrible" Morales and Jackie Nava; even important bullfighters such as Rogelio Leduc, Manuel Juarez "El Poeta" and Alejandro Amaya, among many other important characters.

We have a one of a kind bullring by the sea, the only one in the whole world and Mexico’s only greyhound track.

In the internationally known Avenida Revolución we all can find Caesar’s Restaurant, which is the place where the famous Caesar salad was brought to the world. When in Tijuana, among all the interesting and necessary locations to visit, you must stop by to visit CECUT which is the most important cultural site in northwestern Mexico with events of worldwide recognition.

It´s widely known that Tijuana is the most visited and traveled border city in the world, with a sheer population of 15 million people living in the Tijuana/San Diego binational region.
